Dr. Charles Allen, author of several books devoted to native Louisiana flora, and his wife Susan, have spent years developing the gardens to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Other gardens focus on various curiosities, such as night-blooming flowers, bird watching, and “yard art”. Trails lead into the forest where trees are labeled for identification. Plant Identification Walks and/or Workshops are available on demand for groups of five or more — with or without a room. Options include an outdoor tour, indoor workshop, or both. Sessions generally last four hours, but Dr. Allen will work with you to customize your trip. Chinese cooking classes are available for groups of five or more at Allen Acres Bed & Breakfast in Cravens, LA.
