Wolf Rock – Kisatchie National Forest – Vernon Unit

Wolf Rock is located in the Vernon Unit of the Calcasieu Ranger District of the Kisatchie National Forest. Archaeological evidence shows that primitive peoples once used the cave as a habitation. Legend has it that outlaw John Murrell and possibly even Jesse James used the cave as one of many hiding spots in the area. Access to the area is very primitive, so visitors should dress appropriately for walking in the forest.
