Several trails contained within the Vernon Unit of the Kisatchie National Forest are designated as horse riding trails, including Government Pond, Whiskey Chitto, Enduro Multi-Use, Big Branch, and Turkey Pen Trails.

The Louisiana Playday Riding Club will host Jackpot Barrels and Poles on the second and fourth Friday of every month from March through November at the Vernon Parish Fairgrounds. Gates will open at 4:30pm and the event begins at 6:30pm.
